MAHJONG LEAGUE
What started as a relaxed weekly Wednesday session has grown into something we’re all genuinely proud of — a tight-knit community of players who love the game, love the challenge, and keep coming back week after week. And now, we’re taking it up a notch.
Why we created this
Mahjong is one of those games where the more you play with strong players, the better you become. You’re forced to think sharper, read the table more carefully, and make decisions under pressure that you’d never face in a casual setting. We wanted to create an environment that brings out the best in every player — somewhere that rewards skill, consistency, and smart play over the course of a season. A place where you can prove what you’re made of, watch yourself improve week on week, and genuinely compete for something.
This league is built for players who are comfortable playing at a 3-point minimum. If you’re still finding your feet, our regular sessions are always open to you — but this league is for those ready to step it up.
The Wednesday Mahjong League is exclusive to Sik Wu Mahjong members. If you’re not yet a member, join us here first and then come find your place on the league table.
How it works
There’s no extra cost to participate. The league runs alongside our regular Wednesday sessions — simply book on as usual and select the ‘League Table’ option when booking so we know you’d like to be included.
Over a 2 to 3 month season, we’ll track every player’s cumulative score. At the end of the season, the player at the top of the league table wins a shiny trophy prize — and of course, the bragging rights that come with it.
League points per session
At the end of each game, players are awarded league points based on where they finish:
- 1st place — 3 points
- 2nd place — 2 points
- 3rd place — 1 point
- 4th place — 0 points
Game score tracking (Points Difference)
On top of league points, we also track your actual game scores across the season — think of it like goal difference in football. This gives a fuller picture of how you’re really performing, and is used as a tiebreaker if two players are level on league points.
Here’s how game scores work:
- Win with a 5-fan hand → +5 to your score
- Give away the winning tile → −5 from your score
- Someone self-picks their winning tile → the other three players share a split deduction
- Reveal your tiles without meeting the 3-point minimum → −8 penalty
Full scoring details are available in our league table. All scores are logged and updated after every session so you can track your standing in real time.
What to expect
You’ll be playing against people who push you to think differently, adapt your strategy, and raise your game. That’s the whole point. The competition is friendly, the atmosphere is the same one you already know and love on a Wednesday — but now there’s a league table watching, and a title up for grabs.
